Anthony Edwards was easy in his thoughts on the Minnesota Timberwolves’ NBA playoff elimination.
After upsetting the La Lakers in the opening round and beating the Golden State Warriors in the West semi-finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves met in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In the blink of an eye, the Edwards and T-Wolf Dream Title Quest fell into a bitter end, enduring the elimination of the brutal five-game Western Conference Finals.
Working on his postseason elimination, Anthony Edwards said he was not disappointed with the unnecessary outcomes of himself and the Timberwolves.
He said he regretted not giving 37-year-old Mike Conley the NBA championship he deserved before retiring.
Udonis Haslem had words of Minnesota sensation, as long as he was grateful and understood what Edwards said.
“Young King Ali man, don’t take it for granted. As an OG, thank you for doing this for OG Mike Conley. But don’t take this opportunity for granted,” the Miami Heat legend told ESPN’s NBA today.
“You’ve been to two Western Conference Finals early in your career. You’re only 23 years old. You have so many basketball in front of you.
“I went in 2006. Me and Dwyane Wade were naive enough to think we’d go back (to win another NBA title), but we didn’t go back for six years.
“You know how it is. You don’t get these opportunities as much as you might think of as a young basketball player.
“So, I would like to thank Ali guy for screaming OG and doing it for him, but don’t take this for granted, it will be faster.
Edwards delivered in his first two series against the Lakers and Warriors. However, he struggled when he stood up against the lightning, and sometimes disappeared when it counted.
Chris Finch has remarkably acknowledged that Edwards still has much to improve and learn.
He may be 23 and young, but no one knows what the future holds. He had already been promising to appear in two conference finals, so there cannot be denied that the competition around him will become stronger and stronger.
In this golden parity era of the NBA, several under-radar teams are set to emerge. He and the T-wolf are playing in the west. The level of competitiveness at conferences is off the charts, and it’s already difficult to secure a postseason berth.
For now, Edwards has to be determined enough to take the next step to lead Minnesota to the first NBA championship, motivated by the losses of consecutive conference finals.
