Former NBA star Udonis Haslem believes LeBron James should be heavily considered leaving La Lakers.
The drama followed every move by LeBron James, with predictable rage as he chose to sign his La Lakers.
This was sparked by a statement from a representative of LeBron James, urging the Lakers to strengthen their surroundings now, building more than just for their future with Luka Donsic.
This interesting powerstruggle is unfolding, and LeBron’s latest stance is that it’s the Lakers’ “normal business,” but he’s finished his contract next summer, which creates uncertainty for the franchise and players.
So, especially in mid-July, LeBron’s future is now a subject of regular speculation.
Former star Udonis Haslem told ESPN’s NBA today that the best path ahead is for LeBron James to leave the LA Lakers.
He believes their two goals don’t fit, and LeBron James needs more urgency than the Lakers are ready to invest in now.
And even more importantly, Haslem thinks the cold truth of the stone is that the La Lakers roster is not enough to win the NBA championship this season.
Haslem said: “What I say about LeBron James is that two things can be true. LeBron may be looking for opportunities to put himself in a winning situation. The Lakers are looking for opportunities to fall into a winning situation for the next four or five years.
“I think both have the same goals, but they’re not on the same timeline.
“And for LeBron James, we don’t know how much time he has. Naturally, you should want to be in a position where you can win the championship and land the plane.
“It’s not LA. I don’t care who they bring to LA. It’s not the championship roster now with the LA Lakers.
“If LeBron James wants to put himself in a championship situation, he has to have another opportunity to look for.”
Udonis Haslem is a former teammate of LeBron James on the Miami Heat and if there is a chance he will rejoin his former team, he would love to see it.
Haslem was not shy about suggesting this. “I know where he is welcome, and he is always welcome.
Realistically, the heat won’t have the opportunity to bring LeBron James back through trade this summer. Their only chance will be if he is bought out or as a free agent in 2026.
Still, there are other teams in a much more competitive situation than Miami, and of his previous teams, the Cavaliers have a stronger emotional pull.
One thing is clear. The debate over LeBron James’ future is carried out and carried out.
