Jon Anik believes that Yair Rodriguez has not been spoken well before UFC 314.
Rodriguez (15-5 MMA, 10-4 UFC) welcomes two division Bellator champion Patrici Oleire (36-7 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in the main card opening match of the April 12 event at Kaya Center in Miami (ESPN+Pay-Perview, ESPN/Disney+).
Anik is excited for Freir to compete under the UFC banner, but has praised Rodriguez since winning the interim featherweight title in Josh Emmett’s submission. UFC play-by-play commentators believe he doesn’t get enough credibility despite Rodriguez’s skid.
“I have more Intel for you, but the other guy, Yair Rodriguez, is completely dialed,” Anik told MMA Junkie Radio. “Team Barreflow is just something going on. They are two champions under their roof, the appearance of Ignacio Bahamond, and the skill of the most naturally talented skill is Jaarrodriguez.
“When considering how much he has already achieved, the interim championship clearly doesn’t think about some decline, flow, maturity, or development, and doesn’t necessarily give him the boon of doubt.”
Annick made bold predictions about Rodriguez’s future.
“I think it makes sense that Yair Rodriguez, the forgotten man in 1945, can follow in order to become an indisputable featherweight champion,” continues Anik. “I know what you guys know, when he’s there, he’s a big problem. You should hear how Beral Muhammad talks about this guy. It’s faster than your eyes can track.”
