UFC 316 experienced mild shakeups at the event in just over a week.
Uros Medic announced Thursday via Instagram that he has escaped from the welterweight match against Chaos Williams at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on June 7th.
Please read the Medic statement below.
everyone
I wanted to share my team, so I had to make the tough decision to withdraw from the upcoming fight due to the health issues I’ve dealt with behind the scenes.
I have been battling stubborn sinus infections that affect my training breathing and recovery, but ultimately I had to be treated with antibiotics.
It wasn’t an easy call, but I know this is the right move from respecting the sport, my team and everyone.
I’m completely healthy and will be back soon.
Both Medic and Williams were hoping to return to their 2025 campaign from a poor start. Medic (10-3) received a 31-second knockout at the hands of Puna Ere Soriano this January, but Williams (15-4) saw a straight win of two wins when he was submitted to Gabriel Bonfim in February.
With a strange twist, UFC rookie Albert Tadevosian (13-3-1) was expected to intervene to replace Medic to fight Williams, according to a report from Eurosport, confirmed by MMA Fighting. However, on Friday, Tadevosyan announced via Instagram that he would not fight on June 7th due to the problems that completed his body.
See Tadevosyan’s message below.
It remains to be seen whether officials will try to find Williams’ new partner again.
UFC 316 is headlined by a pair of title fights as men’s bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili defends the title in a rematch with Sean O’Malley in the main event, and Giuliana Pena defends the women’s bantamweight title against Kyla Harrison in the event of the joint Mine.
