Baisangur Susurkaev has had to survive the same horror in the end with a nasty rear choke to clear Eric Nolan at UFC 319 for his second victory in the last four days.
Susurkaev won the UFC contract with his Contender Series victory last Tuesday, making the most of that opportunity with his debut at The Octagon on Saturday. He had to survive the storm from Nolan at the end of the opening round, but Susurkaev eventually secured a takedown and latched into a naked choke at the end of the fight.
The stop came at 2:01 in the second round after Nolan tapped out.
“It’s fine,” Susurkaev said of his quick turnaround to win again at UFC 319.
Putting pressure from the jump, Susurkaev had stalked Nolan in the cage, but he was also wary of punches coming back to him from the natural welterweight division. Although he showed no engagement, Nolan broke Surkaev with a smooth jab before an overhand punch followed by an overhand punch that undoubtedly attracted Russia’s attention.
It led to a takedown from Susurkaev, but he had to repeatedly pull the fight back to the canvas. Back on his feet, Susurkaev was followed by a timing body kick followed by a head kick, but Nolan was upset and he quickly returned.
Just before the end of the first round, Nolan cracked Suzuru Kaev and cracked with a nasty combination as he rocked the winner of the Contender series and returned to the corner.
On reboot, Susulkayev snapped some hard leg kicks that hurt Nolan and limped him inside the cage. Following another takedown, Susurkaev quickly moved on to his position, taking his back as he began to fall in succession of punches into the rain.
After a while, Susurkaev quickly snatched the naked chalk in the back, securing his arm under his chin, and Nolan had no choice but to tap out or fall asleep. Nolan then said he was back at 170 pounds and admitted that Susurkaev was a little too big for him.
His latest victory wasn’t easy, but Susurkaev certainly won history in history with a very short turn to sign with the UFC on Tuesday, and his octagon debut on Saturday. He dives into the middleweight division in a bright spotlight for him thanks to impressive shows from his past two outings.
