Michael Bispin has credited Ian Machado Garry for facing Carlos’ prizes in a short period of time.
Garry (15-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) will be taking part in the UFC on April 26th at the ESPN 66 main event at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The prize was already at camp, but on April 12th, for Jeff Neal of UFC 314. When Neil retreated, his match was discarded. Machado Garry didn’t have a reserved fight, but jumped at the opportunity when promotions were offered at the ESPN 66 main event after Jamahar Hill vs Khalil Rowtree was cancelled.
“I think it makes all sense in the world,” Bispin said on his YouTube channel. “For Carlos’s plaits, that’s a chance to win someone like Ian Garry. And for Ian Machado Garry, he’s now stepping out there with hot prospects. People who are knocking out, people who like to party, people who don’t give people what people think.”
This marks the second straight time that Gully faces a dangerous candidate in a short period of time. Last December, Garry was pulled out of the UFC from the UFC and he lost the match in a unanimous decision to face Shabkat Rakmonov in the five-round title eliminator at UFC 310 a week ago.
“This isn’t an easy match, so fair play to Ian Garry, who stepped into the plate here,” Bispin said. “Ian Garry, what is he going to do? I don’t think he’s going to go out there and beat Carlos’ prizes. Of course, it’s a mixed martial arts, but Carlos trains with fight nerds, these guys are all ready.”
