Kevin Holland quickly shared a moment with Donald Trump following his big win at UFC 316, but he completely ignored boxing icon “Iron” Mike Tyson, who was standing just a few feet away.
The Netherlands landed one of their most memorable victories ever over the weekend, submitting Vicente Luque through submissions in the opening round of the main card opener.
Asked about snubbling Tyson in a postwar interview, “Trailblazer” revealed that it wasn’t the first time he had overlooked the former heavyweight champion.
“Did you see the side of the Mike Tyson cage? Damn, I missed it,” Holland said. “It was the second time Tyson was there and I didn’t say anything to him. I have to be scared of (exp) or something. Mike Tyson is a legend. I don’t want him to bite his ear or hit him on the head, so I look at him, I’ll go the other way.”
Whenever Trump competes in a UFC event, it feels like the fighters are more interested in getting candid moments in POTUS than actually winning the fight.
Kevin Holland calls Trump’s biggest fanboy at UFC 316
Interestingly, the Netherlands called Donald Trump’s No. 1 fanboy, Colby Covington, after dupping “47” during the Cageside celebration.
“I want to continue building myself at £170. I love it (185), but I’m a professional lately,” Holland said in a postwar interview. “And I’m going to stay here at 170 and make a fuss. So, Colby Covington, man, you’re the worst welterweight guy and I’m sorry I like to beat people. Luk was a tough fight.
Despite being one of the most exciting fighters in welterweight history, Covington has carved out a career for himself thanks to his persona as an uncompromising mega-level mag lover. Unfortunately, after “Chaos” cruelly shortened against Joaquin Buckley in December, Schtick is beginning to become thin and thin with combat fans.
Covington has been 2-4 since 2019, and his final victory with a fighter still on the UFC roster came over seven years ago.
