Mexico City – The UFC at ESPN 64 was a record-breaking promotion event.
The event, discovered by Arena CDMX’s Brandon Moreno vs. Steve Elseg, broke the record for the UFC in Mexico.
It was a successful night with many measures and the promotion hopes to grow even bigger when it returns to Mexico on September 13 for UFC 320 in Guadalajara on September 13. The UFC has not made two trips to Mexico in a calendar year in 10 years. This is what excites UFC executives, including Dave Shaw.
“It’s important that we come multiple times for our strategy in Mexico and Latin America,” Shaw told MMA Junkies and other reporters at a postwar press conference. “This is also the first anniversary of the opening of the Performance Institute, which is a compliment and achievement that our entire team is truly proud of.
“We planted the flag. We’re here. If someone was in the opening 12 months ago and returned at any point in the last 12 months, there was a lot of progress in PI. …We’re excited.
It’s only been since they committed to Noche UFC Branding to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day that they are committed to Noche UFC Branding. The first two events took place in Las Vegas, T-Mobile Arena and Sphere. Arena Guadalajara is an all-new venue in the city and can accommodate up to 20,000 people. The show says the promotion is excited to host an early event there to highlight fighter jets in the region.
“Think about it. There are 42 events and events, and we have pay-per-view and fighting nights. We have all these other brands on top of the events that help illustrate the true state of AthleticsM that athletes bring,” says Shaw. “I got the competitor series, the ultimate fighter, the road to the UFC, what I did on Fight Island, and now I got this franchise brand called Nosh.
“Take Nosh to Mexico for the first time is really important to Dana (white), which is important to Borsari and many other members of our team.
