UFC Leadership Explains Why The Old Gloves are Here to Stay and Will Not Be Revised Again

The OG UFC gloves will stay here.

Last year, the promotion unveiled a brand new glove design called the 38 and 5eight. A variety of colors appearing, such as gold, blue and traditional black, Fightwear is designed to achieve maximum comfort and safe fights while losing overall weight.

The gloves were also promoted to reduce the number of eyeballs in the octagon, but did not clearly explain exactly how this would be achieved.

Glove made his official debut at UFC 302 on June 1, with Islamist Makhachev and Dustin Poirier dawing the golden MIT for a lightweight championship showdown in New Jersey.

Five months later, my new gloves came out and my old ones returned.

UFC Executive says there may be a “possible” new gloves introduced below the line

John Jones was one of the biggest supporters complaining about the new gloves that encouraged him to return to old designs in November for his title defense against Stipe Miocic. It was then announced at UFC Vegas 102 in February, and returned to using old gloves for all fighters.

Speaking to Lowkick MMA and other reporters at a postwar press conference in UFC London, UFC executive David Shaw provided insight into the lasting changes to the new gloves and noted that a new version of the UFC gloves may have been introduced.

But for now, the old one is newer once again.

“Dana, Sean, Mick, Hunter, I think they’ve spoken to a lot of different athletes, so everyone wants to go back to their old gloves, so for now, it’s a plan until it’s not, but for now we’re rolling with them,” Shaw said.
