Mexico City – Jamal Emmers keeps it simple. He is not looking for war and will not implement a flashy, thorough game plan – no.
His sole purpose in Fight Night is to become a sniper, and that’s exactly what Emmers (21-8 MMA, 4-4 UFC) did on Saturday with the UFC on ESPN 64.
“I really don’t expect anything,” Emmers told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a postwar press conference. “I’m trying to get this ‘W’, but I’m not actually looking for war.
Emmers was surprised that he was especially at elevation and that Miranda came out as aggressively as he did. The passion of the crowd also exceeded his expectations.
A well-researched member of the UFC Featherweight division, Emmers was ready for a callout. After his two fights, the Undercard had a match in another division – and Emmers was called Dib.
“I know there’s an additional 145 pound fight on this card,” Emmers said. “I want that winner. I want a winner for it anytime. (Christian) Rodriguez and (Melchizael) Costa are extremely talented people and very well-lit guys.
Minutes later, Costa defeated Rodriguez by unanimous decision.
