Chidi Njokuani almost lost a back-to-back fight on scale.
Welterweight initially went 171.5 pounds in a match against Jake Matthews at UFC Nashville, half pounds above the limits of non-title matches in the 170 pound division. Matthews was successfully weighted at 170.5 pounds.
Njokuani’s weight was later updated on UFC.com, indicating that his official weight was 170.5 pounds. MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck confirmed with a promotion that Njokuani was given extra time to make his second attempt, and was successful.
Njokuani has now won three games in a row, but he missed weight in his previous fight. Last March, Njokuani had surpassed the match limit against Elizeu Zaleski by £1.25. He continued to defeat Zaleski with knockouts in the second round.
The 36-year-old has a history of missing the weights that he frequently booked catchweight matches during his 2015-2019 run with Bellator.
As Njokuani finally scored the mark, all fighters are scheduled to compete at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday, with weights now normalized, including heavyweight headliners Derrick Lewis and Tallison Teixeira.

Lewis tilted the scale at a relatively wide range of 261 pounds, while the undefeated Teisheira was registered at 259 pounds.
