As Vitor Petrino acquired Thomas Petersen in Brazil, the yet-to-be unannounced fight night event in Rio de Janeiro will have another fight on October 11th. Several people with knowledge of the situation confirmed the pairing with MMA combat.
Matchup will be participating in Jhonata Diniz vs. Mario Pinto. Amazing city. The promotion has yet to reveal which fighters are finding the card headline.
Petersen (10-3) is a former LFA heavyweight champion who joined the UFC after tapping Chandler Call Dana WhiteCandidate Series for August 2023. The 30-year-old has an 80% finishing percentage in MMA victory, but he distanced himself in the UFC victory, a pair of Mohammed Usman and Dotale Mayes, as well as in the wins of both UFCs.
Petrino (12-2) did a short job at Austin Lane in his heavyweight debut at Nashville last weekend, rebounding with a first-round rear choke finish to Anthony Smith and Dustin Jacoby from a consecutive 205-pound defeat. He currently holds a 5-2 UFC record.
After UFC Nashville won, talking to the MMA fight, Petrino volunteered to fight as soon as possible, as he didn’t have to worry about cutting to the lighter heavyweight.
“This is the eighth fight in under three years and I want to keep up with that pace at the heavyweight division,” Petrino said earlier this week. “If the fight appears tomorrow, all I can do is put my shorts back in and enter the octagon (lol). I want to fight one or two more times this year. The good thing about being a heavyweight is that I can always offer a fight.”
