Beral Muhammad may not be the most exciting fighter to see, but he gets the job done.
“Remember,” climbing to the summit of welterweight mountain, which won Leon Edwards by a dominant decision last year, is about to continue building his legacy this Saturday (May 10) as the promotion returns to Great White North for UFC 315 inside Montreal’s Bell Center.
There, Muhammad squares with Australian sensation Jack Della Madarena in the classic grappler vs. striker fight.
Sportsbook likes Muhammad to win matches with odds above 2-1, but fight fans collectively cross their fingers and hope that “JDM” will cut down on the rule of the Chicago native title.
Muhammad’s yawn-inducing style of fight has irritated UFC viewers for years, but his grapple doesn’t deny that heavy attacks are effective. After all, it took him to the top of the welterweight division after winning 10 straight wins.
Laura Sanko compares Beral Muhammad to “GSP”
UFC analyst Laura Sanko introduced Muhammad’s controversial style, revealing that victory is the most important thing for fighters, and that doesn’t always lead to octagonal fan-friendly issues.
“Winning the battle with what fans want to see is not always the same,” Sanko appeared on Submission Radio. “Winning is the most important thing in professional sports. That’s what brings you to the top. It may not turn you into a superstar, but you’ll hold it and protect it.”
“The GSP was often called boring, but it’s not entirely similar to how they fight. But it was ruled out of having a GSP. We miss him. No one doesn’t put him on the goat list.”
Through 24 career victories, Beral Muhammad has only finished six of his opponents, bringing a 25% finishing rate. Meanwhile, Jack Della Madarena cleaned up 14 of her 17 opponents, giving her a finishing rate of over 82%.
