Dana White has been blown away by her latest battle The ultimate fighter 33.
It wasn’t a technical masterpiece with imagination growth, but UFC flyweight hopes Imanor Rodriguez (Mexico) and Alsiyan Memon (India) certainly entertained UFC apex spectators, including their potential bosses. In the end, it was Rodriguez who came to the top with a ferocious standing TKO victory in the first round.
Team Daniel Cormier’s Rodriguez (5-0) and Team Chael Sonnen’s Memon (7-0) took part in this week’s battle against unbeaten records, and their raw talent and lack of experience were fully on display. Rodriguez constantly landed his right hand on the retreating Memon, who appeared to have been caught off guard by Rodriguez’s attack. Rodriguez’s body kick was won by Memon, and Rodriguez attacked for the finish, but somehow Memon survived and managed to recover.
Rodriguez never gave up. Memon fires in the wild and then makes the mistake of breaking the telegraph on a takedown that Rodriguez stuffed before robbing Memon’s back. He flattened Memon, flipped her over to Memon, and gave up on the full mount. Again, Memon somehow slipped out of her disadvantage.
But his luck soon disappeared. Inexplicably bursting with confidence, Memon dropped his hand and urged Rodriguez to bring it to him. Rodriguez slammed Memon into the cage and threw the bomb until umpire Mark Smith jumped in for a save.
White then worked hard to praise both contestants, telling Memon, “It’s one of the best fights I’ve seen right away.”
Cormier is now rising 2-1 with opposing coach Sonnen, while Rodriguez joins Daniil Donchenko, a Welter-grade teammate in the winner’s circle.
Also, in this episode, Sonnen brought in another former tuf He is outstanding as a guest coach, TUF 20 Winner and UFC Strawweight Champion Carla Esparza.
In next week’s welterweight match, Team Cormier’s Jeff Clayton (USA) will face Andreas Binder (Ireland) from Team Sonnen.
The ultimate fighter 33 Airs will perform live on ESPN+ every Tuesday at 10pm.
Unlike most editions of tufcoaches Daniel Cormier and Charle Sonnen will not compete at the end of the season as both have retired for a long time.
Finalists of TUF 33 Welterweight and Flyweight Tourments compete for a six-figure UFC deal in the show’s live finale battle. The dates for these matches have not been announced yet.
