The Ducati under the radar veteran has been praised for his role in the domination of MotoGP.
Satellite riders, including Mark Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez, stole the Italian manufacturer’s show on the truck, but Gigi Doll Ingina is credited with the genius who oversees the entire project.
However, their trustworthy test rider, Michele Pirro, has been identified as a key cog in the machine.
“They have solid test riders. The Pillo is good,” former Ducati Motogue rider Jack Miller told the Gypsy Story podcast.
“He’s on his knees – if he’s moving faster or he’s slower, there’s a reason.
“They are looking at the numbers. They don’t give as ***. They download and digest all the data that’s in them and say, ‘This is better, this is bad.’
“They analyze the information on the track and then riders test it, that’s a different mentality.
“They’re deep in the numbers game. They’re very fortunate to have someone like Pillo hitting the mark and do what he has to do.
“He’s not the fastest man or the slowest man. He does his s***. He knows his role and he does it well. He’s been doing it very well for 12 years.”
Important Ducati technology has been identified
Miller describes the incredible technology Ducati has been using since his time as Factory Rider 2021-22, supporting MotoGP’s position as the leading manufacturer.
“They’ve worked so hard to get where they are. Chapoe to them,” Miller said.
“We’re grateful for the fewer two on the grid and for the lucky stars we can fight. Honda and Yamaha are working hard. They’ve been making motorcycles for a long time.
“It took me a little time to understand the different mentality of their response to motorcycle development and how quickly they need recent updates.
“Feedback from the race weekend is being relayed to the test team. What part of it is coming to respond to these changes?
“The Ducati has a 3D printer on the back of the f**** truck that runs on the 24-7.
“It’s not the engine part. There are a lot of parts that are plastic material. They build winglets and what holds the sensors together. They go 24 hours a day at the back of the truck.
“I thought: ‘What is this? It looks like a huge waste of space!”
Miller’s former teammate Bagnaia has become Ducati’s first MotoGP champion since Casey Stoner, who claimed its glory in 2007 in 2022.
Pramac’s Jorge Martin continued to run two titles of Bagnaia, representing the Ducati satellite team.
Marquez managed to return the title to the factory garage, but Ducati’s position above the championship is solid. This is a project directed by Dolniya, who had been making it for years before making it bigger.
