Valtteri Bottas admits he is open to short-term F1 returns amid growing speculation that will tie him to an upcoming comeback in season with Alpine.
Bottas is off the Formula 1 grid after failing to secure a seat at the end of 2024.
Sauber dropped Finn and chose to sign F2 champion Gabriel Boltreto.
Bottas continues to operate in the Formula 1 paddock, with Mercedes re-subscribed as a test and reserve driver.
The 10 Grand Prix winner is one of my favourites to join the Cadillac next year.
Bottas is deeply connected to the American team, but faces competition from Sergio Perez.
He was able to return to the grid this year as he is under pressure on Franco Colapinto this year.
Corapinto has struggled ever since replacing Jack Doohan with the Emilia Romana Grand Prix.
Last month, Alpine Advisor’s Flavio Briatore discussed the availability of Bottas with Mercedes.
Speaking to Sky Germany, Bottas dealt with speculation about his future for Formula 1.
“I want to go back to the grid,” Bottas said. “That’s my goal, hopefully I know what’s next for August.
“I’m looking at the long term, but the short term is fine, there’s discussion going on.
“We have more time to talk in August.”
Schumacher predicts Botas to Cadillac
F1 Pundit Ralf Schumacher is confident that Cadillac has signed Bottas next year.
Schumacher has made some accurate predictions last year.
Recently he was one of the first to suggest that Max Verstappen had decided to stay at Red Bull.
“I think it’s a good thing for a new team like this to have at least one experienced driver like Valtteri Bottas,” explained Schumacher.
“From what we heard, it solved. We’re second most interested.”
The second Cadillac seat gives you a grip.
Perez is linked. If Cadillac wants two experienced drivers.
Mick Schumacher and Felipe Dragovich are also in the frame.
