Former Houston Rockets star Vernon Maxwell has shown his love and appreciation for the two current players in the franchise, identifying two champions who will help the team.
Maxwell was part of the Houston Rockets team, dominated opponents in 1994 and 1995 and won two consecutive championships.
Maxwell was considered a very talented player, but his feelings often made him better while he played.
However, he has grown ever since, and has appeared frequently on podcasts and shows.
In his latest episode on the “All the Smoke” podcast, Maxwell nominated Dillon Brooks and Amen Thompson to two of his favorite players from Rocket’s current roster.
Maxwell also said that two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant could be the player to help him reach the promised land.
Speaking more about the current rocket, Maxwell said:
“Rockets, those guys want smoke, they don’t care who they play, they’re competitive.
“I think we need to bring along with the Rockets guys that say KD, who’s the real scorer type guy.”
He also added that KD is important because of the ability to score, and having an offensiveness to Brooks and Thompson’s defense will help them win the championship.
“They need real scorers, and I mean the defenders they get it, who are going to be a double team night and night out.
“They’re not scared of anyone. I love their tenacity in defense.
“They made Dillon’s ‘crazy butt’ into Dillon. They are people who love to compete, twin guys, he is crazy as a beast. I love that team.
Host Matt Burns guarantees the idea of having KD in the lineup, making a difference to the Rocket.
At 36, Kevin Durant still has a high-level basketball that remains for him for several more years.
However, his situation with the Phoenix Suns is not big and despite having three offensive players in the league, the team is struggling.
This could lead to Durant looking for a move in a summer when the Minnesota Timberwolves and Rockets compete.
Durant’s trade is expensive, and Rocket is aware of it.
However, rockets are on the younger side and have the resources they need to carry out the deal.
Playing with Durant is a great opportunity as the younger players can replicate his hard work and his mannerisms.
Whether that happens or not, Durant makes history with his scores and retires as one of the greatest games ever.
