Former NBA champion Vernon Maxwell has emphasized the Knicks Star as the best player in the playoffs right now, calling him a “killer.”
The New York Knicks are flying high after winning Game 1 at TD Garden. They defeated the Boston Celtics 108-105 and stole home court in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
NBA fans loved the 20-point comeback that gave the Knicks a victory. Jalen Brunson was instrumental, but setting a horrifying playoff record for the Celtics certainly helped.
Karl Anthony’s town was clutch at a big moment, and Mikal Bridge was defensively locked up. OG Anunoby also scored 29 points in the game. All players have stepped up to the Knicks.
That being said, the team has one star that has received high praise from the entire NBA world.
Vernon Maxwell won two NBA championships at the Houston Rocket in the 1990s. He knew one or two things about the superstar and played next to Hakeem Olajuwon.
Speaking about all the smoke podcasts, Maxwell was enthusiastic about praise Branson despite his support for the Celtics of the series.
“You have to change what you’re doing. Boston handed me one last night, meaning they got a killer on the other side,” Maxwell said.
“Man, this guy, I’m telling you, man, he’s probably playing the best basketball right now in the playoffs.
“I love him, but I just think Boston will win the series. I think I’ll go to seven games now.”
Branson exploded into stardom after joining the Knicks. They have created the Eastern Conference semi-finals for two seasons in a row and are now trying to break through that barrier.
So far, in the playoffs, Jalen has done everything he can to make that happen. The 28-year-old averages 31.1 points and 7.0 assists per game.
With his 29-point performance, the Knicks guy was an outstanding performer against Boston. New York needs him to step up again in Game 2.
A player’s legacy is defined by winning. If Branson really wants to establish himself as one of the best, there’s no better way to lead the team than leading the team.
