Los Angeles right-handed pitcher Chris Stratton selected free agency last weekend after being assigned to a team assignment.
Stratton was in Triple A Oklahoma City after clearing the exemption. Rather than reporting to minors, he chose to exercise his rights as a free agency.

This was the second mark in a week when Stratton was DFA’d.
He was first designated as an assignment last week, cleared the exemption, elected the Free Institution, and sent to minors before re-signing with the . The same night he re-signed, he pitched one inning against the Cardinals, allowing one hit and one acquisition on 20 pitches.
Now he’s back to the open market
Stratton has made three appearances for the this season. The 34-year-old had missed a stint with the Kansas City Royals before joining the this season.
So far, in the 2025 season, Stratton has recorded a 7.71 ERA in 15 appearances with 15 strikeouts and 2.00 whips in 21 innings.
The weren’t in a great place when it came to pitching. They currently have 14 pitchers on their injured list and are doing everything they can to keep staff fresh, from starters to bailouts.

The may need a pitcher, but Stratton isn’t playing his best, making decisions easier for Los Angeles. During his career, Stratton played for the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, Royals and .
In 374 appearances, Stratton scored a 4.64 ERA with a 41-27 victory record in 624.1 innings, 16 saves and 570 strikeouts.
