With the aim of making an immediate statement, new sports director Hugo Viana is reportedly urging Manchester City to sign the Premier League rivals he has been tracking since 2021.
Viana is already targeting Man City acceptance
If doubt remains about whether Manchester City will be busy this summer, Kevin De Bruin’s pending exit news should have put it to bed. The Blues were able to miss Champions League football for the first time under PEP Guardiola, and are now more desperate for overhauls than ever during the Spanish incredible reign.
De Bruyne’s departure could be the beginning of a ruthless age in Etihad, where several stars show doors. A recent report suggests that joining De Bruyne is likely to be a Kyle Walker. Kyle Walker spent the second half of the campaign lending to AC Milan for a still-permanent deal.

Pep identifies the “world class” star as an alternative to Man City’s dream Bruin
After Kevin de Bruin announced he was leaving Manchester City, Pep Guardiola is targeting the “world-class” Premier League star to replace him.
Meanwhile, questions remain as to whether Jacques Grelish, Bernardo Silva and Adason are still coming to the club that will be coming in August, making room for acceptance that Viana has already set his sights on.
On that front, the biggest name ever mentioned was Florian Wiltz, an immediate replacement for Manchester City’s de Bruyne. The Germans made history at Bayer Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso, but may decide to move on when the summer transfer window arrives following another excellent personal campaign.
However, the attacking midfielder is not the only name on the city’s shortlist. After all, they need a massive overhaul. Names such as Morgan Gibbs-White and AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders have been mentioned in two recent deals that steal many headlines. Meanwhile, Viana, which hasn’t happened there, reportedly aimed at signing a top six rival in the Premier League.
Viana pushes Man City to sign Udogie
According to Fabrizio Romano of GivemeSport, Viana is now urging Man City to sign Destiny Udogie. He has been tracking since his 2021 fullback Udinese days. Now on Tottenham Hotspur, the defender was impressed by many as Lily White is falling rapidly.
With the Spurs for the first time since 2023, the left back often won the admiration of his manager. He told reporters following a 2-2 draw with rival Arsenal in Udogie’s debut season. “The fate of booking early may have made it difficult, but the way he dealt with it was he was the dominant player on that side of the pitch.
Udogui should be close to the top of the city’s wish list given Guardiola struggled to resolve his left-back problem since Josco Gvaldior was forced into central defense amid concerns about injuries.
Adding important depth to the sides and depths that could push Gvardiol all the way through will certainly go a long way for the city side, desperate to regain the crown for next season.
