Belgian MMA fighters have found themselves on toe toe with a group of Indian tourists.
Around midnight on Sunday, March 16th, 22-year-old Belgian mixed martial artist Maxim Erbil and his Thai wife were about to return to their apartment complex in Pattaya, Thailand, when they discovered that the entrance contained a vehicle owned by a group of Indian tourists. After a while, frustration grew and led to verbal arguments that escalated to the physical.
A few minutes later, two more Indian men joined the friend and turned it into a group attack.
“We just wanted to get through it,” Irville’s wife told Cassod English. “They blocked the entrance and my boyfriend tried to talk to them, but it escalated quickly.”
At the time of the brawl, there was only one security guard on duty at the entrance to the apartment complex. Too scared to intervene in the situation, Irvil was left to fight alone.
There were no charges accused by MMA fighters or groups of tourists
The brawl reportedly lasted about 20 minutes, attracting the attention of bystanders and ultimately local law enforcement officials.
“He’s bigger and has boxing experience so they couldn’t beat my boyfriend. He loves Muay Thai so he had an advantage,” she said. “Around 20 minutes later, officers arrived to disband the fight, rescuers came to provide assistance and police reports were submitted.”
In the end, neither party chose to claim charges.
“He doesn’t want any issues. He just goes back and forth and leaves out asking for an apology because he doesn’t want to deal with repeated court appearances,” she explained.
