Liverpool fans pay tribute to Diogo Jota outside Anfield after the footballer and his brother were killed overnight in a car accident in Spain.
The two men were traveling in vehicles, but following a blow-up of tires, they left the road, passing and setting fire, and there is news that a double lethality was reported Thursday morning.
The world of football is united in mourning for the victims of that accident, among those who Jurgen Klopp, Stephen Gerrard and Jamie Carrager share an emotional message on social media.
Liverpool fans pay tribute to Diogo Jota
Liverpool supporters are paying their respects by building a shrine for Diogo Jota outside Anfield.
Numerous Reds fans paid tribute to the late football player by leaving flowers, scarves, flags and shirts near the stadium to honor his memory.
Some supporters also exhibited No. 20 and left a balloon. This was his five-year shirt number as an LFC player, and resonated again this year as the club won its 20th domestic league title.
Diogo Jota will be worshiped forever by Liverpool fans
It is impossible to understand the scale of loss and devastation that Diogo Jota and Andre Silva’s family and friends must be feeling after the tragic news this morning.
Liverpool left their wife and three children behind, and the couple held their wedding just 11 days ago.
Many LFC supporters have recalled many happy memories the Portuguese has offered at the club for five years, including a hat trick that won Atalanta 5-0 and a 4-3 thriller stop time winner against Tottam Hotspur.
His legacy also lives on in Liverpool matches and in hymns of his name, which were routinely heard in away, with some fans claiming that the club will retire from the No. 20 shirt in his memory.
At this point, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.
