Tottenham has been recruiting their first trophy since 2008 to face Man United in the Europa League final, winning the course after taking the lead just before halftime with the San Mamems.
Bilbao’s first half lacks quality, indicating why both sides are struggling with a season outside of the Europa League. And it even came across an opening goal that is currently credited to Brennan Johnson.
The excellent cross from Pape Sarr was not addressed by Man United and the ball ended up behind the net.
Tottenham leads the Europa League in Bilbao
It was a glorious moment for Tottenham and they certainly don’t care that the goal was very poor. As things stand, it will be even sweeter for them to make it against Man United, of course, to break the drought of the 17th trophy.
For Tottenham, he sits in 17th place at the Premier League table and in 17th place in one game. And this has raised pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou, who previously commented on rumors that he could be fired, even if his side would win in the Europa League.
But all of these struggles will be forgotten if Tottenham can see the remaining 45 minutes without acknowledging it. Not only will they secure that elusive trophy, they will also secure their place in the Champions League next season, which will bring great benefits to the summer transfer window.
There’s still a lot to do for Tottenham, but if they can keep Man United at bay and win the Europa League final, their players will be immortal.
