Liverpool’s new right-back Jeremy Fripon made an immediate impact with his amazing solo goal in his debut with Crystal Palace in today’s Community Shield Clash at Wembley.
The Reds are leading 2-1 at the time of writing, with Hugo Echitique taking their first goal of the afternoon before Jean-Philippe Mateta was equal to the palace.
Frimon now has given his fun effort to get Liverpool back in front, showing the Merseyside giant that there’s no need to miss Trent Alexander Arnold!
Dutch International joined Liverpool this summer from Bayer Leberkusen after Alexander Arnold left to join Real Madrid, and he got off to a perfect start for his new club…
Frimon showed great skills to beat his man and then get shots from difficult angles. And we need to wonder if he was completely going to the finish line, or if it was a cross that accidentally found the way.
Either way, it’s a lovely goal, and a 24-year-old will remember for a long time.
Looking to launch a new campaign with Liverpool Silver Products
Liverpool won the Premier League title last season, but today is sure to be keen to win the silverware again.
Arne Slot’s side was a big favorite of this match, even if they knew one or two things about causing a big upset at Wembley.
After all, Oliver Glasner’s men booked their place at today’s Community Shield thanks to a memorable FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at the end of last season.
The palace hopes there will be another shot in their trophy here today, but after the first half goals of Ekitique and Frimpong on either side of Mateta’s penalty spot equalizer, they will now have to go down from 2-1.
