Arsenal went through their first preseason loss as North London rival Tottenham defeated 1-0 in a friendly one in Hong Kong.
Most fans probably haven’t read one friendly result, but there are still many who want to know how a particular player rode, especially when he debuted, the new striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Swedish International recently joined Arsenal from Sports Lisbon after a long transfer saga. He will be considered one of the most exciting signatures of the summer after his stunning goals record during two seasons in the Portuguese capital.
Although that didn’t happen at all with Gyokeres today, he still looked decent with an alternative look to the Spurs, but overall this Arsenal team was looking for a long way from its best.
Arsenal players’ evaluations against Tottenham
It wasn’t a memorable game for most of these Arsenal players, but please read on to see exactly how they are being evaluated…
David Raya – Really poor due to the goal that ended up deciding on the game, Raya has come a long way when he was too far from his line and was not really needed. Usually a reliable shot stopper, this was a distinctively chaotic moment from the Spaniards, and a moment that Mikel Arteta hoped not to repeat too often. 4/10.
Ben White -Looks like someone who needs to regain full fitness and confidence after last season of injury, White was decent against Tottenham, but not his usual self with the quality of his passing and crossing. 5/10.
Miles Lewis Skelly -Lewis Skelly, who was very impressive for most of last season, shows that he still needs to improve in some areas and improve his focus a little. He was seen doing extra work on crossing with Gabriel Heinze in preseason training. Fans hope he will generally speed up as competitive football begins. 5.5/10.
William Saliba – It’s pretty solid as you would expect, and mostly disappointing with him, the lack of regular starters like Gabriel Magalges and Julian Timber. 6/10.
Jakub Kiwior -Also, while there’s relatively little trouble with what wasn’t the Vintage Spurs display, Kiwiall may have done more to show that he deserves to start more frequently in the upcoming seasons. 5.5/10.
Declan Rice – As lively as usual, he has not begun to show his normal rhythm and quality. 6/10.
Christian Norgaard – The no guard signed as a team player showed he could do his job without making too much fuss, but fans would expect to see Martin Zubimendi as the starter for that position. 5.5/10.
Martin Odegard – Missing a good chance, perhaps he’s been watching a lot in the preseason so perhaps a little less. Perhaps not too much of a concern, but Arsenal fans will want to see some improvement soon. 5/10.
silly – Even if it’s not at its best, Saka can light up the game in great moments, but overall it’s not a significant day and Gooner will be worried that he’ll have to get hurt. 6/10.
Gabriel Taney – Social media was full of Arsenal fans seeking signing on the left after the game. Martinelli looked like an elite making-of player just a few years ago, but he hasn’t improved since then, and it appears that gunners need people like Ebeki Eze and Rodrigo to level up. 5/10.
Kai Havertz – Viktor Gyoker is not a performance that worries you. Let’s just say that. Hubbard generally struggled to impose himself on the game, making life quite easy for Spurs defenders. 5/10.
submarine:
Viktor – He is perhaps the most impressive performer of Arsenal performers, even if only on relatively short cameos. The Swedish striker quickly looked comfortable and sinking with his teammates, and it was unlucky that he didn’t get an assist after a good job and an attractive ball. 7/10.
Max Dowman – Another player who gave Arsenal a little more spark, 15-year-old Max Dowman, continued his fantastic preseason, even if he couldn’t make more impact on the outcome here. 6.5/10.
