Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne has emerged as a transfer target for AC Milan next summer, according to reports in Italy.
The Frenchman has been a mainstay at Villa Park since arriving from Everton a few years ago and has a contract with the Midlands club until 2028.
But there now appears to be growing concern among those inside Villa that Milan pose a serious threat to retaining Digne.
The Rossoneri are looking to sign a new left-back and Digne appears to have emerged as a key target for the position.
AC Milan eyeing cheap transfer for Lucas Digne
Milan seem to be keeping an eye on Digne as they feel they have the potential to sign him at a cheap price.
The 32-year-old is no longer in his prime, so it might make some sense for AVFC to listen to reasonable offers for him, even if they probably want to keep him.
Digne’s contract may not expire until 2028, but Milan remain confident of signing the former Barcelona player on the cheap in the summer of 2026.
We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out, but it’s clear that Villa have a big decision to make and convincing Digne to turn down a big name like Milan could be difficult.
Even if the Serie A giants are not as strong as they once were, they remain big names with a rich history and reputation.
It’s easy to imagine that Digne would appreciate the chance to play there, even if it was for a relatively short period late in his career.
