Vinicius Oliveira extended his undefeated streak to six, earning a unanimous decision victory over Kyler Phillips at UFC 318.
Oliveira went right after Philips, but almost paid the price and ate a huge right hand that stumbled into the cage. Oliveira eventually recovered and returned to his forehead, but Phillips’ constant movement clearly fitted him within the octagon.
Oliveira finally caught Phillips early in the second round, connecting with the booming right hand that bore the Americans. “Lok Dog” moved in to kill him, but Phillips quickly jumped on his bike. Oliveira secured a takedown during the scramble and Philip returned to the mat for a moment. Eventually, Phillips exploded from his back and stood upright.
Phillips is beginning to show fatigue as Oliveira’s relentless pursuit shows no signs of slowing down. Phillips tried to shoot for a takedown, but Oliveira easily turned it around, putting Phillips on his back for the rest of the stanza.
Phillips tried to go back to the match after nearly finishing the second time, but Oliveira’s non-stop pressure forced the “Matrix” to limit his attacks and sent him to the scorecard for a decision.
