Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts spoke about All-Star Catcher Will Smith’s status against the Philadelphia Phillies against the NLDS Game 2.
Smith has been nursing a broken hairline with his hand since September 3rd when a foulball hit him against Pittsburgh pirates. He was out of the lineup for six days and returned to the lineup on September 9th, but after regaining an injury during that game he landed on the injured list.

Smith entered Game 1 with the Phillies in five innings, and was hit with a pinch hit by catcher Ben Rothvent. Smith hit the pitch in Saturday’s contest, making it 2-2.
“I’m still in the air,” Roberts said of Smith’s position. “We might run the same playbook and we can start him. But for me, I think it’s just watching how he’ll come tomorrow.”

Prior to Game 1, Smith said he was close to full strength and “going nine innings right now and could be a good thing.”
Adding one of the All-Star and ‘ best regular-season performers since Rortvedt came to Smith will be a huge boost for LA.
Smith hit .296 during the regular season and hit 17 homers with 61 RBIs in the 110 games he played.

The won a massive Game 1 on the road against the Phils on Saturday, causing a late comeback to fight off a 3-0 deficit. They get a rest day on Sunday before the second road game in the series. The match will feature Blakesnell, the first game starter of the Wild Card Series, to begin the second postseason.
NLDS Game 2 starts Monday at 3:08pm.
