Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) announced Dave Redin as the new director of rugby on Friday.
Reddin previously enjoyed a variety of fitness and performance roles, including England Rugby, the English Football Association, and Team GB, but he stepped into the role of overseeing all male and female rugby in Wales.
Reddin’s first job is to appoint a new men’s head coach in place of Warren Gatland, who resigned during a 17-game winning streak in a loss that dates back to the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Sources told ESPN that Scottish defence coach Steve Tandy is popular for getting a job as head coaching.
However, if the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) can persuade Tandy to take on the role of head coach, it will need to agree on a compensation package with the Scotland Rugby Union, and it is unlikely that Tandy will be led to Wales’ summer tour of Japan.
Reddin’s first major tournament will be to oversee the Women’s Rugby World Cup, which will be held in England later this summer.
Like the men’s side, Wales endured the difficult six women’s countries as they tried to avoid wooden spoons in their final match against Italy on Sunday.
