Jordan Pool, despite being just 25 years old, doesn’t fit the Washington Wizard timeline, so the team is expected to deal with him this summer.
The Washington Wizard is in no hurry. After finishing last season with a second NBA record, the Wizards scored their sixth pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, 18th, courtesy of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Between Bub Carrington, Bilal Coulibaly, Alexandre Sarr, AJ Johnson and Kyshawn George, Washington boasts the core of players under the age of 22. Jordan Pool, 25, is the best player, but the Wizard traded him this summer and was able to remain patient throughout the draft.
Pool has two seasons left on the contract and proved early in his career that he could become the third or fourth option on the title team, but he is not ready to become the leader of the winning team.
With Win-now teams seeking scores in the backcourt, Washington is able to add draft picks and expired contracts in exchange for pools, which could occur as soon as the draft date June 25th.
“There is growing belief that Jordan Pool can move on draft night or later this summer,” he wrote. NBA Draft Addicts Raphael Barlow. “That possibility shakeup can add another layer to Washington’s draft strategy and open the way for the new backcourt face.”
With Carrington showing his promise as a floor general, George and Coolively already have steady wings and Searle is plagued by the two-way possibilities, so like the Utah Jazz, the Wizards are expected to stay close to the bottom of their rankings next season as they build organically.

If the wizard trades the best players, it makes sense to target his replacement in the draft. The emergency area required for Washington includes both off-ball scorers and forward power, so we had VJ Edgecombe and ASA Newell selected in the NBA Mock Draft.
On the sixth overall pick, the wizard can get the top young players, but there are no garbage picks. The top three players are Cooper Flag, Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey. After that, things become vague.
Washington was able to land talented players, Edgecom, Tre Johnson, Kaman Mallach or Con Knoupel, whose victory was especially effective after the time they had time to develop.
Don’t expect wizards to chase the stars in trade or free agency this summer. They have a clear pass to build a long-term winner, but it could take two more seasons before they make the playoffs.
They don’t lack young talent. They just need to make the playoffs.
