The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match between India and Pakistan began with a tense note at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo on Saturday, October 5th. After the Asian Cup 2025 drama, Indian captain Herman Preet Kaur and Pakistani skipper Fatimasana refused to wave with the toss.

At the recent Asian Cup 2025, the Indian cricket team avoided shaking hands with Pakistani players. They were not involved in pre-match or post-match pleasure throughout the tournament.

On Sunday, Harmanpreet Kaur and Fatima Sana continued their no-handshake trend that began in 2025 for the Men’s Asian Cup in the UAE last month. Both captains completed the form and returned to the dressing room without greeting each other in Colombo.

The Indian women’s cricket team is said to be opposed to the conventional gesture of sportsmanship at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup match held in Colombo, following guidance from the BCCI.

In the case of women’s cricket, the ICC rules do not force a handshake, and the team is punished only if they violate the spirit of the game.

Now, the Pakistani women won the toss and invited Indian women to hit first in Colombo.

Pahargam terrorist attacks and tensions between India and Pakistan

Tensions between India and Pakistan in particular escalated following the Pahargam terrorist attacks that insisted 26 lives and the subsequent operation of Operation Sindoah. These events have spilled into cricket, and India has refused to shake hands with Pakistan at all encounters in the Asian Cup 2025.

Since ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India and Pakistan have played matches at neutral venues for the ICC and ACC Tournaments, which are policies that will continue until 2027. As part of this arrangement, Pakistan will play all matches at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 in Colombo.

Play India and Pakistan XI for WWC 2025 Clash

Meanwhile, Pakistan made one change to the big match in XI play, bringing Shadaf Shamas to replace Omaima Sohail. Meanwhile, India has also made one change. Because Amanjot Kaur missed the game due to illness.

Renuka Singh Thakur replaced Kaur in Play XI.

Indian women aim to continue the perfect ODI record for Pakistan

Meanwhile, the Indian team has a perfect record against Pakistani women in ODI, earning all 11 encounters so far. On hitting first, India dominated in seven matches, winning by averaging 138 runs.

India has been comfortable winning in the game as they averaged 8 wickets and 26 overs left in four matches while chasing. India is equally dominant in the World Cup clash, winning all four meetings with Pakistan.
