A new controversy was sparked at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 by former Pakistani women’s cricket team captain Sanamir.
Sanamir dropped a political bomb during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match between the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team and the Bangladesh Women’s National Cricket Team on Thursday, October 2nd.
In the third match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, Pakistan and Bangladesh are facing head-on at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

After winning the toss and choosing the bat first, the Pakistan women’s team performed horriblely, continuing to lose wickets on a regular basis, and eventually tied to 129 in 38.3 overs.
Her team’s low batting performance forced Bowlana Talia Perveis to arrive very early, when the biggest controversy of the Women’s World Cup exploded.
While talking about Natalia Paavais’s on-air, Sana Mir dropped a politically loaded statement, saying that the bowler came from “Azad Kashmir”. She said:
“The very young side of the captain in the context. Yes, they got the qualifiers, but many of these players are new. Natalia, who came from Kashmir in Azad Kashmir, plays a lot of cricket in Lahore. She has to come to Lahore and play most of the cricket.”
This sparked a massive controversy, and Sana Mir was brutally bashinged by the Indians as he calls Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) Azad Kashmir.
In particular, Pakistan and the occupied Kashmir (POK) refers to part of the former princes Jammu and Kashmir, which were placed under Pakistan control following the first India-Pakistan war of 1947-48. These lands remain illegally occupied, and Indian policy rejects the meaning of the Pokh, known as Azad Kashmir, on the political agenda, being “free” or truly autonomous.
Despite knowing the political implications and controversy surrounding India and Pakistan over the 2025 Asian Cup, Sanamir dropped such pathetic remarks. Commentators of ICC events need to take more responsibility and realize the impact their words have on people, and Sanamir should be condemned for her remarks.

Nashura Sandhu will be on Hit Wicket
During the Pakistan-Bangladesh match, a classic Pakistani moment was produced by Nashra Sandhu, who left the hit wicket.
She became the first Pakistani woman, and only the second player in Women’s World Cup history to suffer from this dismissal mode after Lynette Smith. Wicket also placed her alongside Pakistani male cricketers, along with Misbah-ul-Haq and Imam-ul-Haq, both of whom experienced hit wicket layoffs at the ODI World Cup.
