Rabindra Jadeha on Friday (April 25) had to trade bats without facing delivery during the match between the Chennai Superkings and Sunriser Hyderabad at Ma Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The incident took place for the fifth time when the Indian all-rounder left for the bat after Sam Curran was fired by Hershal Patel. Before Rabindra Jadeha went on a strike, the field judge pulled out the game and tested the bats.
CSK faces another poor star
In a gauge test, the judge runs the gauge through the bat and determines that the bat dimensions are sufficient within the rules. If the bat cannot pass the gauge, the batter must change immediately.

Existing rules limit bat edge thickness to 4cm (1.56 inches), bat overall depth to 6.7cm (2.64 inches), and 10.8cm (4.25 inches). When the judge ran the gauge through Rabindra Jadeha’s bat, it didn’t pass and the CSK star was forced to change his bat.

Ravindra Jadeja is not the first player to change his bat due to a failed gauge test for IPL 2025. During the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Punjab Kings, three players (Andre Russel, Sunilnarin and Andrichnorti) had to change bats.
Reports say the referees are told to test bats to maintain the balance between the bat and the ball. Officials don’t want the batter to gain excessive benefits by using larger bats.
Talking about the game, CSK becomes curious after being asked to play first. They got off to a disastrous start as Mohamed Shami dismissed Shaikh Rashid for the golden duck in the first ball of the match.
ayush mhatre showed a good glimpse
Sam Curran was promoted to No. 3, but the English star failed to justify the call and was fired by Hershal Patel on nine runs. Ayush Mhatre was often mentioned, but he couldn’t translate his start to a big score. The youngster left after scoring 30 runs from 19 balls.
At the time of writing this report, CSK was 8th at 58/3, with Rabindrajadeha and Dewald Brevis in the middle.
