West Indies legends Brian Lara and Viv Richards have slammed Roston Chase after the current captain lost his wicket in shocking fashion on the second day of the second and final Test against India in Delhi.
West Indies’ collapse continued as India declared their innings at 518/5 at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday (October 11) as Roston Chase was dismissed scoreless after facing seven balls, leaving the touring team in deeper trouble.
Brian Lara and Viv Richards furious after Roston Chase falls for duck in Delhi Test
It happened in dramatic fashion, with Ravindra Jadeja completely fooling Roston Chase with his sharp turns and deft flight. The West Indies captain tried to flick a long-range delivery from Ravindra Jadeja to the leg side but ended up giving the left-arm spinner a simple return catch.

The shot went completely against the turn but the Indian all-rounder completed the catch without any mistake. His firing left Brian Lara and Viv Richards completely disappointed. As Chase walked away disappointed, cameras showed Lala and Richards in the stands, clearly annoyed.
Both legends seemed to be gesturing that the right-handed batsman should have played the ball towards the offside instead of against the spin. Roston Chase’s dismissal left the West Indies in an even worse situation with 4 wins and 107 losses, and any hope of a strong fightback was dwindling.

West Indies opener continues to be poor performance
Meanwhile, the West Indies opener continues to struggle against India in Delhi. They have now gone 40 innings without putting together a stand of the century, with their last 50-run opening partnership coming 10 innings earlier.
Since the last 100-run opening, first wickets have only added 20 runs on average. This shows how bad a start they had in Test cricket.

In the second innings, West Indies were struggling at 140 for 4 in 43 overs, with Shai Hope batting consistently with 31 off 46 balls and Tevin Imlach adding 14 off 31 balls. That resistance didn’t last long as Chanderpaul’s wicket caused a mini-collapse. Shai Hope is playing aggressively and Tevin Imlach is showing composure and confidence in the crease. There are still runs left on the wicket, giving Windies a chance to rebuild and look to bat strongly on the third day.
In the second and final Test against West Indies in Delhi, India declared 5-518 with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 175 and Shubman Gill scoring an unbeaten 129.
