Pakistan launches a Tri Series campaign against Afghanistan
Pakistan will launch a Try Series campaign against Afghanistan at Sharjaclicket Stadium on Friday, August 29th. The final is scheduled to take place between the top two sides on September 7th, with all matches scheduled to be performed at Sharjah.
Salman Ali Aga, who has already led the nation in 18 matches, will captain the Pakistani team from 17 members. The team has been in the UAE since August 20th and is preparing for the contest by holding training sessions and practice games in Dubai.
For all three aspects, the series will be a key preparation ahead of the Asian Cup, which will begin on September 9th in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Pakistan won four of the seven T20Is against Afghanistan.
Shaheen Afridi struggles in the form of international cricket
Shaheen Shah Afridi has struggled beyond the international cricket format and has lost his pace after an injury. The left-arm pacer suffered a knee injury in 2022, excluded him from the Asian Cup, and later haunted him again in the T20 World Cup final against England that same year.
Ahead of the Asian Cup 2025, Afridi hopes to put those struggles behind him and make a strong comeback. Alongside Harris Rauf, he was able to provide Pakistan with the cutting edge he lacked in recent limited over cricket.
The team enters the Tri Series under pressure after inconsistent batting and bowling performances. Following the Tri series, Pakistan will feature in the Asian Cup and will face India on September 14th in Dubai.
