A shocking incident unfolded during the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Despite hitting a stump with a bat at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, March 22nd, star all-rounder Sunilnarin of the 36-year-old Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) escaped the fire of Hit Wicket.

The incident took place in the eighth of the first innings when 24-year-old Pacer Rashik Salam was bowling Sunil Narin.

On the fourth ball in the overs, Salam went around the wicket and fired a guard at Nareen just outside the stump.

The onfield judge immediately declared it widely, and as Narin finished his half-hearted bat swing, the edge of his bat toe hit the stump and one of his bail was released. But surprisingly, the judge did not give it.

The reason behind the referee’s move is that the ball has died as a wide decision was already made before Narin’s bat contacted the stump.
