Is everyone underestimating Dricus du Plessis?
Throughout nine battles within the Octagon, “DDP” is regularly counted by combat fans, many of whom use his nasty style and use SUS CARDIO as a reason to wager big money against South Africa. Aside from his recent victory over Sean Strickland, Du Plessis went on plus money with four straight outings.
And that’s not the line that Duplesis will be taking place on Friday, August 16th, with undefeated Chechen monster Kamzachmaev at UFC 319 in Chicago.
Currently, “Borz” is a 2-on-1 favorite to unlock Du Plessis, while Strawight’s outstanding Fatima Kline counts “DDP”.
“I feel like I’m a bit underestimated,” Klein told James Lynch. “He was trying to lose to Strickland, so I was very wrong about it. His unique style. It’s very easy to not think he’ll win.
Klein, who won a TKO victory over Victoria Dudakova in January, is looking for a back-to-back victory when he faces Melissa Martinez at UFC Nashville this Saturday night.
Chimaev’s title fight against Du Plessis has been coming for a long time
In 2020, Chimaev burst into the UFC scene, winning three fights in eight weeks. Sadly, his momentum stopped after coming down with a troublesome case of Covid. Despite rumours that he was seriously considering retirement, “Bols” returned to the Octagon a year later, resuming his campaign and landing a dominant first-round finish against Lee Jinlian.
Since then, Chimeh has rarely seen him, but he was still impressive.
A majority decision against Kamal Usman won, and with a tooth-shattering face crank finish against Robert Whitaker, Chimaev scored his first shot in UFC Gold.
