Arsenal is expected to have a busy summer transfer window that plans to bolster the offense and midfield.
Gunners are once again set to lose in the Premier League title race. This time we will face Liverpool side of Arneslot.
In the last two seasons, Mikel Arteta’s team came in second place at Manchester City in Pep Guardiola.
This season was once again a disappointment for the gunners who are scheduled to finish another season without winning a league title.
They are still competing in the Champions League, but face Real Madrid in the quarterfinals and it looks like a mountain to climb.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Gunners are working on a deal to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
The Spanish midfielder has been linked to his move to north London for quite some time, but recently Real Madrid has raced for his signature.
Despite interest from the Spanish giants, Gunner is currently leading the race to sign him.
Speaking to Givemesport’s “Market Madness” podcast, Romano said:
“The conversation between Zvimendi and Arsenal is ongoing. We then know what happened in Liverpool a year ago. He could go to Liverpool and decided to stay in Real Sociedad.
“So Arsenal is very careful until the end of the story, but they’re still interested in the players. And there are these links about Real Madrid. I think these links are by Xabi Alonso.
“Xabi Alonso is a huge fan of Zubimendi. A year ago, when Alonso was approaching Bayern, he decided to stay at Leverkusen.
“Imagine how much he likes the player, and I think this is why we have so many rumors about Real Madrid. If Alonso will ultimately become the new Real Madrid coach, that might be possible. But at this stage, Arsenal is still working on the deal.”
Martin Zubimendi is perfect for Arsenal
Zubimendi is one of the best players in the world in his position, and that’s why Liverpool wanted to sign him last summer.
Arne Slot was a admirer of the player and wanted him in his midfield, but the player refused to move to Anfield to stay in Spain.
He is now open to the idea of leaving Sociedad for a new challenge, and Gunners presents an ideal opportunity.
The chance to play alongside a manager like Arteta and his former teammate Mikel Merino will be an exciting prospect for Zubimendi.
