West Ham United currently has a “specific interest” in signing the “elite” midfielder along with a deal with Southampton’s Star Matteus Fernandez, with talks already taking place over a potential £17 million deal.
West Ham is paying attention to some new signatures after a bad start
West Ham has gotten off to a very disappointing start to the new Premier League campaign and suffered a back-to-back defeat, and his trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the EFL Cup crashed in a 3-2 loss after admitting two late goals.
It was suggested that Graham Potter’s work could appear on the line as a result of very poor results. And the manager is desperately trying to improve his team before the September 1 transfer deadline.
With Lucas Paqueta’s future in doubt, Hammer is trying to bolster his offensive options, with many targets appearing on the list, and the Fernandes deal agreeing.
Enhancement in the middle midfield is clearly still a priority, and Soungoutou Magassa’s contract is also thought to be nearing completion, and As Monaco Maestro is not the only option on the list.
In fact, according to X’s Sky Sports Reporter Florian Plettenberg, West Ham has retained “specific interest” when signing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Alix Garcia, and in-person meetings with the German club have already been held.
The numbers are being debated and no formal offers have been made yet, but trading could be possible at a relatively affordable rate.
“Elite” Garcia excelled at London Stadium
Football scout Ben Matinson was obsessed with the Spanish midfielder during the 2023-24 season. At that point he was said to be one of the best positions in the world, and the former Girona man’s ability to pass was called “elite.”
A primarily deep midfielder, Leverkusen Maestro can also earn seven goal contributions with 28 Bundesliga appearances in the 2024-25 campaign.
With Tottenham Hotspur’s recent contract with Paketa, Potter may need to introduce a new playmaker. Garcia certainly has what it takes to succeed at London Stadium.
That said, it’s important that the Hammer holds the Paketa, given that he’s one of the only players who can hold his head high until this season, and one of the only players scoring two goals, as he’s already losing Mohammed Kudus to his London rival this summer.
