West Ham United are evaluating potential candidates to take over Graham Potter, and the British are clinging to his work in the thread.
Graham Potter faces West Ham sack after poor Premier League start
It’s been more than nine months since David Sullivan chose to assign Potter to Julen Lopetegui’s successor at London Stadium, but he is seeking his P45 after taking on responsibility for his P45 so far.
Since Potter arrived, only Avram Grant in 2010/2011 has driven out the West Hamside, leading to a decline in Premier League win rates, acknowledging more goals than any other side of the top flight this season.
West Ham managers in the Premier League | Winning rate |
---|---|
9. Sam Arardies | 30.7% |
10. Julen Lopetegu | 30% |
11. Gianfranco Zora | 27.8% |
12, Graham Potter | 27.3% |
13. AvramGrant | 18.9% |

This, combined with severe vulnerabilities from Tepid Performance, As Justhoined Play and Seat Piece, brings Potter dangerously close to losing less than a year of work to the role.
Some media sources believe the 50-year-old could be fired by West Ham if he can’t beat Crystal Palace this weekend.
“I know he’s playing Saturday,” a Hammers news source said earlier this week.
“I’ve been told Sullivan is very concerned about the fans’ reactions at this point. It’s more toxic than he’s ever had under David Moe and Lopetegi. Defeated, and that’s it for Potter.
“But I’ve been told it’s not a roller coaster like both of my previous managers, and I’m saving myself with some weird victory.”
West Ham secured the first victory of the season before an international break with an outstanding 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest, but failing to beat the palace could prove that the performance is irrelevant.
The Irons reportedly have many managers who have appeared on the list of rumored candidates to replace Potter, including Nuno Espirito Santo, Kieran McKenna and Frank Lampard.
However, after news broke out today that Sullivan was seriously considering rehiring Croatians again, it was revealed that former manager Slave Billick is also a candidate for the hot seat.
That being said, he’s not just a “interesting” option, as broadcast by journalist Graeme Bailey.
West Ham is working for Gary O’Neill ahead of potential moves.
Talking to Hammers News, the reporter states that former West Ham midfielder Gary O’Neil is also watching, not to mention the East Londoners’ viewers.
“Let’s not beat around the bushes. West Ham is in great trouble, and there’s no chance of relegation, and we can bring the club back into the age. That can’t happen,” Bailey said.
“The club has been doing due diligence on potential options since summer. There are many other interesting things besides Bilic — Nuno, (Shawn) Dish, (Gary) O’Neal — maybe not the host West Ham fans want, but certainly they can upgrade in the current situation.”
It is very controversial in terms of whether the latter is a good option.
Will Gary O’Neill succeed at West Ham?
At Bournemouth, he performed a small miracle. Then, with the Wolf, he was in charge of the difficult situation after a sudden exit of Julen Lopetegi, turning them temporarily into the competitive side.
He was eventually fired last year shortly after “Elsacchiko,” the famous “Elsacchiko” between West Ham and the Wolf. The supporters remember it very well.
O’Neill also has yet to work at the club with so many authentic European ambitions at the start of his management career.
The step-up is huge and the atmosphere around East London is currently very toxic. There is no guarantee that his practical style will sustain long-term success. Because so far his work has been primarily about short-term survival.
