West Ham United reportedly was given the opportunity to seal the surprising move of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.
Nigeria International was nearing a £21 million transfer to AC Milan, but the deal collapsed.
And, according to a report from Give Me Sport, this allows West Ham to participate in the Boniface signing race.
Hammers seem to be expected to be offered this opportunity, but they are currently focusing on other priorities before attempting serious negotiations with Boniface.
Still, this seems to be an interesting story as West Ham can do well to sign a new striker this summer.
Is Victor Boniface a good signature from West Ham?
Boniface excelled at Leverkusen in the 2023/24 season. He scored 21 goals in all competitions to beat Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, reaching the Europa League final.
The 24-year-old has scored a total of 32 goals in 61 appearances for Leverkusen, making it easy to imagine him going well in the Premier League.
A tall, strong, and quick striker, Boniface has the raw material to deal with the physicality and fast-paced nature of British football.
And even if his form soaked last season, it’s clear that Boniface is young enough to turn his career around and grow towards the center under the right manager.
Graham Potter is currently not the most compelling job at London Stadium, but in general he was the one who helped many players improve throughout his coaching career.
Boniface and West Ham look like a good fit. And I imagine that many WHUFC fans pay attention to this and hope it can pass.
