Liverpool signed Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window for a club-record fee.
However, the 25-year-old Swedish international is not at his best. He only found the back of the net once in all competitions, and his performance was mediocre.
Heskey isn’t worried about Alexander Isaac
Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey is not worried about the former Newcastle star. He believes Isaac will get better eventually. He added that the Sweden international must continue to work hard and become mentally strong. Isak also explained that former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has struggled to live up to expectations due to his mental health and Isak needs to remain positive through this phase.
“I think he’s going to do well, but I think he’s got to keep his head held high because one of the things he can’t do is let the situation take its toll and keep his head down,” Heskey said on TEAMtalk.
“We have watched Darwin Nunez play. Before he came (to Liverpool) he was an attacking player and he was doing very well, scoring goals. After that, his energy was sucked out of him. It’s not the fans’ fault or anything, it’s your own mental strength and you have to work on it.”
“Isak needs to work on that. He needs to keep playing well, keep being aggressive, keep working hard. He’ll get over this little incident and find his feet within the system and the way Liverpool play.”
Will Isaac recover?
The striker is currently sidelined after sustaining a groin injury in yesterday’s UEFA Champions League match against Frankfurt. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to return to action soon.
Liverpool would have expected him to give his all. He is well established in the Premier League and was one of the best players in the country last season. But things haven’t gone as planned so far.
The striker missed the entire pre-season, which affected his fitness. It remains to be seen whether he can get back on track and get back into shape quickly.
