From 2024-25, the Rockets finished 52-30. It was the second best record in the Western Conference, only behind the lightning. As a #2 seed in the 2025 playoffs, Houston faced the #7 Warriors.

The series went to Game 7, but the Warriors looked after the business with a 103-89 victory and rocket. For a few players on the Houston roster, this was their first playoff experience. That was clear to SG Jalen Green. His 13.3 points per game in the playoffs was a big drop-off from 21.0 per game in the regular season.

Is Jalen Green a potential trade candidate for Rockets this offseason?

Despite how the 2025 postseason ended, the Rockets made a big step forward from 2024-25. They won over 50 games for the first time since 2018-19. It was also Houston’s final appearance in the pre-2025 playoffs. The Rocket was 52-30, with the second-best record in the West. Houston was the second seed of the 2025 playoffs.

They had a very tough first round matchup and an improved Warriors team. Jimmy Butler’s addition to the Golden State trade deadline changed the trajectory of their season. The Rockets went to seven games against the Warriors, but lost 103-89 on Sunday. You cannot put all responsibility on one person. However, Rockets’ Jalen Green has been heavily criticized on social media. The 23-year-old averaged 13.3 points per game this postseason. He had less than 10 points in four of the Rockets’ seven games.

That included Game 7 on Sunday, when Green scored eight points. His best performance was in Game 2, with 38 points. Despite his struggle, head coach Imedoka said he can’t put all the responsibility green. He noted how the Warriors’ defensive game plan was to take the green out of the game. They managed to do that in this series. Green left some doubts with Rockets fans this offseason. The previous second overall pick just finished his fourth season at Houston. Will the green be on the chopping block this summer?
