New York Knicks coaching candidate Taylor Jenkins is looking for a quick return to work in the NBA.
Players and coaches now know that life in the NBA can change quickly. Ask Tom Thibodeau, who led the New York Knicks for a minute in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Another experience of change was Taylor Jenkins. After being appointed to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, he was fired a few days before the end of the 2024-25 regular season, despite the team being directed towards the playoffs.
Jenkins is currently interviewing for his work with the New York Knicks and is about to return to coaching immediately.
Now, Taylor Jenkins is about to land Tom Thibodeau’s old work. This highlights the desired situation created during his pull in the Knicks in New York and his stint with the franchise, where he turned them from laughing stocks to candidates.
A few weeks ago, Thibodeau was sitting on the podium at a press conference discussing the shooting from Jenkins’ role in the Grizzlies.
Thibodeau paid tribute to Jenkins, saying, “You hate that part of the business. He’s not only a great coach, but he’s a great guy and it’s a shame.
Unbeknownst to him that he was set to suffer a similar fate a few weeks later, Thibodeau bouncing hard in support of Jenkins.
“I’m sure he’ll do well. He’s established himself as a great coach in this league, so the future, a better day will go ahead for him.”
Taylor Jenkins is one of two coaches currently interviewed at the New York Knicks coach, along with former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown.
Both are reliable candidates, returning to coaching and trying to take advantage of the strong Knicks roster to lead them to the title.
In Jenkins’s case, he landed with a better, more balanced team than Memphis, and, importantly, in a weaker, open Eastern Conference.
Thibodeau was right that “better days” could go ahead for Jenkins. He needs to win approval from the Knicks front office.
