The FedEx Cup is a point competition during the season that culminates in the playoffs, consisting of three events to determine the FedEx Cup champion. The PGA Tour first introduced the FedEx Cup in 2007.
How many players are eligible for the FedEx Cup playoffs?
PGA Tour players earn points that make up their FedEx Cup rankings. The top 70 ranked ranks are eligible for the FedEx Cup playoffs.
The field will shrink to 50 after the first playoff event and to 30 after the second event. The remaining 30 players will compete for the FedEx Cup in their third final playoff event.

These two events are prize money payments, and the tour championship is considered “bonus” money and does not count towards the official money of the PGA Tour’s best money-listed golfer’s ever-grown money list.
