Borussia Dortmund attacker Jamie Gittens has given Chelsea a major transfer boost by informing the German club of his desire to leave this summer.
The 20-year-old attacker has linked his move to the Premier League, and Chelsea hopes to close the move soon for him. According to Bild, the player told the club he wanted to move this summer.
Dortmund is open for sale
The report further argues that after a mediocre performance in the second half of the season, Dortmund could be open to selling him for £50 million. The 20-year-old is a promising young talent, and it is not surprising that he is at odds with this stage of his career. He has all the attributes to develop into a future star, and Chelsea is ready to invest in the future.
Despite his inconsistencies, Gittens scored 12 goals and five assists last season.
Chelsea are ready to sign players before the Club World Cup begins, and it is still unclear whether the two clubs will be able to quickly secure their contracts. He was a very long-term investment for Chelsea and if he could quickly adapt to British football, he could prove to be a major upgrade to Mykhailo Mudryk.
Chelsea can use Jamie Gittens
Chelsea will need to secure qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season and improve their teams to match the European elite next year. They also aim to fight for major trophies. There’s more cutting edge and unpredictability in the last third, and Gittens adds just that.
Joining a Premier League club is also extremely exciting for young attackers. British regular football was able to accelerate his development and help him realize his potential. Chelsea is one of the largest clubs in the world and was able to provide him with a platform to consistently showcase his abilities at a high level.
