2025-26 One of the most interesting stories is how Luka Doncic looks with the Los Angeles Lakers, as the NBA season is about to separate.
Don Sic and the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs in five games by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
One of the major concerns after the loss of that series was Donsic’s health.
Donsic has taken a great shape in the summer and responded by holding a solid tournament with Slovenia at the Eurobasket.
Doncic enters this season at 26 and he won’t turn 27 until next year.
The scary part is that he’s not even in his prime yet, as Doncic has been great so far in his NBA career.
The Slovenian superstar is about to enter his best year. This is good news for the Lakers who locked Donsic in an extension this summer.
Lakers great James Worthy spoke about Donsic at ESPN LA and mentioned what Jerry West was saying.
“Luca, 27… Jerry West always said, but you haven’t peaked until around 29, so he’s serious.
“I think he got it in Dallas’s, but he’s always going to have it deep inside his heart.
“He’s on the mission, he’s been on good terms in Dallas, but he’s ready in the city that demands him win.
“Last year, Luke and LeBron ranked third in the West, not 100%.
“You get chemistry, cohesion and synergy. You have big things and you don’t have rim protectors, so you’ve made it to the playoffs.”
While Doncic looks ready for a big year, the Lakers will face tough competition this season.
The Western Conference is piled up as defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder still beat the team.
Other Western Conference Powerhouses have been getting better this summer, with the Denver Nuggets and Houston Rocket making important additions.
Other teams, including the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves, are all blackmailing.
Once things stand, the Lakers should be able to compete for top six spots, but that’s not easy.
