Kawhi Leonard was a very popular free agent in 2019 and ultimately decided to join the Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Leonard was fresh from an incredible playoff run with the Raptors. He helped them win the 2019 NBA Championship and also claimed the 2019 NBA Finals MVP.
The raptors were desperately trying to keep him up, but it became known that Leonard wanted to be in his home in Los Angeles.
As the Lakers historically captured the big-name star, Leonard decided to sign with the Clippers instead.
And recently, a report from the Toronto star speculated that Leonard didn’t want to join the Lakers in 2019 because he didn’t want to play with James.
This decision was a surprise to many that Leonard lost the opportunity to play with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Instead, he joined forces with Paul George. Paul George traded the same summer with the Clippers.
Leonard actually got the opportunity to play with James and Davis in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game. He then talked about his experiences at TalkBasket.net.
“It was fun. I played with Bron last year with ads, I think it was the year before or so.
“But it’s always fun to see what they do every day, just talk about and be a teammate.
“We go to each other all year round. But like I said, it’s great to be able to choose their brains and be around them and laugh at them jokes.”
Leonard’s tenure with the Clippers has not been planned.
The Clippers have not been able to win the championship since signing him, and Leonard continues to be injured for the team.
Worse, Leonard and the Clippers are currently under investigation by the NBA after it was said that Leonard made $28 million from the Cap-Cerkim Benching Measures.
If both parties are found guilty, they could face some severe punishment.
In the meantime, Leonard and the Clippers will enter their sixth season together.
