What Michael Bridges really wanted to say in Tom Thibodeau's comments, Carmelo Anthony insists

Michael Bridges recently sparked a debate over the game and urged Tom Thibodeau to use more bench players on the team.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Knicks star had approached Tom Thibodeau, suggesting that he would be scattering more minutes across the team’s bench units.

The news curtailed concerns across New York Knicks fans who were worried about his infamous heavy addiction between Thibodeau and his infamous heavy on-court starter.

Mikal Bridges revealed that the New York head coach has made an announcement about the idea, but there hasn’t been much change since then from Thibodeau.

New York’s starting five is because of the 29 other teams who average more than 35 minutes per game from a play perspective on the court. Bridge and Josh Hart both remain as workholes, with the duo tied for most minutes played so far this season (37.6).

For former Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, Bridges’ comments clearly show that the 28-year-old and other starters need a breather.

In the latest segment at 7pm on the Brooklyn Podcast, the former NBA star sent concerns about the fatigue levels the Knicks starter is experiencing under Thibodeau.

“Michael Bridges is tired. This guy hasn’t missed the game since high school. Jalen Branson isn’t saying he’s tired, but the injury will say he’s tired, you’re dealing with something.

“We don’t have the opportunity to take time out of the game and deal with these (issue).”

The bridge calling Thibodeaux also attracted the attention of Stephen A. Smith. The ESPN personality, a lifelong Knicks fan, did not hide his concerns about the issue as he criticized his New York mentor.

The Knicks have stood strong in terms of Eastern Conference third team (45-27) so far. They also ultimately won a third-year postseason spot.

However, as Jalen Brunson recovers from an ankle injury, his chances for the NBA title are in a shaky place. Without the franchise guard, they’d be 5-5 in the last five games.

“(The Bridge) didn’t say he wanted to go outside, he told us there were other people to prepare for the playoffs,” Anthony insisted.

“We don’t have to play that much. Let’s build them up to prepare for the playoffs. That’s the political answer.

“The other side of it is ‘I’m tired like s___, what are we doing?

“I read between the lines.”

Anthony doesn’t expect it to change in the end. Thibodeau has already been adjusted a bit.

He added: “Tiv has been Tib forever. He has adapted to what’s going on today. He understands that I deal with different kinds of players, different kinds of personalities.

The Knicks have a key fight before them as a championship competitor, but their biggest threat may come from within, as their bodies may fail them when it is most important.
