Patrick Beverly is looking at the NBA comeback after a year of absence from the league.
For most of the 2010s, Patrick Beverly built a reputation as one of the league’s best defensive guards.
Beverly has three complete defensive team choices to demonstrate his reputation as an elite defender. However, after 12 years of stints with seven different teams, Beverly found himself out of the league ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.
Instead, the former La Lakers guard played for Israel’s Hapoel Tel Aviv. With his stint coming to an end soon, Beverly is currently looking for another shot in his NBA play.
At 36, Beverly is definitely past his prime. Nevertheless, Pat Bev has not yet announced his retirement.
On the contrary, the 12-year NBA veteran is trying to incite a comeback by messaging several general managers.
“I miss that. I smacked the couple’s coaches a few gms. I said. I’ll just invite you to training camp. I’ll do the rest. If you have a roster location, let me fight for that roster,” Beverly said.
He added:
Given his more than a decade in the NBA, there’s no doubt that Beverly must have had a good relationship with some important GMs and coaches in the league.
So, following his brief stint in Israel, fans may see Beverly’s return.
Over the past few years, the level of talent in the league has grown exponentially. Obviously, finding a roster in the NBA is also becoming more difficult.
It’s difficult to make a comeback unless players clarify their skills. Speaking of Beverly, he averaged 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in 73 games during the 2023-24 NBA season.
Beverly wasn’t someone who could put astronomical numbers on the floor, but he had a relentless approach to the defensive side of the floor.
Furthermore, if he can prove he can become a good leader, given that he is 36, he may find a spot on a team with a younger core.
